Snot is My Life

With a title like that I bet you all thought this might be an RT related entry. It isn’t although that would be a great title if I wrote an RT blog. 🙂

I went to clinical sick this week. I had a sore throat that came on Saturday afternoon and stayed through Sunday. I left work at 3 pm to go get my patients for clinical on I was fortunate enough to be able to have a patient that I had last week. I could have had both if I had known the other was still there. The patient stayed because of a new problem and had a new status if you know what I mean.

This cold hit my like an anvil on Wil E Coyote while I was writing my patho paper on Primary Arterial Hypertension on Sunday night. Holy crap. Couldn’t stop my nose from running even with daytime medicine. (didn’t have any nitetime medicine) I debated if I should call in sick to clinical. I decided to wait until morning to see if I felt better.

I ended up getting up at 2 am to take some cold medicine because my nose wouldn’t stop running. And I left at 5:15 for clinical. I arrived at 0615, checked my labs and stuff and sat down for pre conference. Them we were told that we had to go choose another patient. So I did that. Sat in pre conference until almost 0800 then started my day.

I ended up basically helping out with four patients because the second one I chose went home early in the shift. (while I was at lunch ). It was kind of a dull day because my floor didn’t give meds this day. I had a nice nurse though.

Thankfully, we got out early (1730) from clinical. Next week we will sit in report with our nurses instead of a pre conference so that will be nice. We will bring treats for her nurses and treats for the our post conference party. So that will be nice.

After spring break practicum starts. 5.5 weeks of that and then I’ll graduate. Pretty amazing I think.
