Application of powder BEFORE foundation?

I remember seeing something about putting powder on BEFORE my foundation in a ladies group that I am a part of. I immediatly thought that was Crazy so I decided to do some research. Here is what I found out!  Apparently it works!!

Famous Makeup artist Wayne Goss (featured in the video above says that this tip is amazing and works well for multiple reasons.

  1. You will use a fraction of the foundation.
  2. You may not need to use power on top of your foundation.r
  3. Your foundation will set faster and you will be able to finish your face sooner!

Step 1:  Moisturize your skin.  This step is so important!  If you have dry skin  it is important to exfoliate your skin first.  Some of my favorite exfoliating products are, FORMULA 10.0.6 One Smooth Operator Pore Clearing Face Scrub, THE BODY SHOP Drops of Youth Liquid Peel, or  Limelight by Alcone Skin Polish

Step 2: He suggests using a loose powder not a pressed powder.  Apply the powder to your face after moisturizing and priming your face. My  favorite primer is Laura Geller Supercharged Fortified Under makeup primer. It gives an added layer of moisture to your skin.   Limelight has a wonderful spray primer called First Base Makeup Spray Primer  which works well.  My favorite loose powder is NYX Professional Makeup HD Studio Photogenic Finishing Powder Translucent Finish. or Coty Airspun Translucent Powder

Step 3: Apply your foundation.  You can use liquid, wax, mineral or  cream foundation -any thing you want!  Use your hands, a brush or a beauty Blender.  Wayne suggests a luminescent foundation to add glow to your face  My favorite luminescent foundation is It Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination SPF 50+  .  I also love Limelight Botanical Foundation in The shade Gena Beige. It is wax based and goes on like a dream!

Step 4:  Apply powder if necessary.  You may need a little powder in your T zone if you have an oily T zone as some people do but you won’t need nearly as much!!

This tip works really really well and I suggest you do this for longevity of your makeup throughout the day.
