The last college nursing class

Tomorrow is the first day of my last college nursing class- Patient Care Management Practicum.  (for a while anyway.)  This will be our 5th orientation, 6th if you count general nursing program orientation.  We will start the day off with a comprehensive HESI exam at 0830.  That will likely last about 2 to 2.5 hours.  Then we will probably go to the nursing lab for what seems like our umpteenth dosage exam.  That will take another hour.  I know that last thing for tomorrow will be the dean of nursing (or someone) will be in to talk to us about applying for licensure and NCLEX-RN.

We are supposed to be there from 0830 until 1700.  What we will do with the approximately 5 other hours, I do not know.

This past weekend, in addition to getting the reading started in our text Essentials of Nursing Leadership and Management, I also started the ball rolling on the BSN.  I will return to the University of Central Florida where I received my bachelors in Cardiopulmonary Science, for my BSN.  They have a wonderful online RN to BSN with a practicum at the end.  However, there are many hurdles I need to jump prior to even being able to apply to this program. I was not married the first time I went to UCF, now I am so I’ve had to regain my University email address and “dashboard, submit paperwork to change my name, submit a course substitution application to the school of nursing. (which has to be done before I can apply to the school of nursing)

  • Graduation from my current program
  • taking and passing of NCLEX-RN
  • reapplication to the University
  • application to the school of nursing.

Since I can’t get all this done by March 15th. (which is the deadline for applying to the Nursing program for Fall 2012, I will have to wait until Spring 2013 to start.  Which puts the deadline to July.  So I should have enough time to pass the NCLEX, apply to the school and then to the school of nursing by that time.  I will not however have time to take General Chemistry  (sans lab) should they not accept my proposed course substitution  of Physics with Lab.  So all of this really hinges on them accepting my course substitution.  We shall see what happens….
