PCMP exam 1

Today was exam one for my Patient management practicum class.  I had intended to study more when I got to school EARLY like I usually do on the day of the exam.  But, unfortunately, I hit the back passenger side bumper of my neighbors car with the back passenger side bumper of my car.  It crunched and cracked the back passenger side bumper of my car but did hardly any damage to their vehicle.  (Which I come to find out is a rental so the guy wasn’t that upset about it).  My poor car.  This is the second accident since I got poor Rosie 2 years ago.  (The first someone rear ended my husband when he was driving.)

So I didn’t do as much studying as I wanted to do.  But I did quickly look over my learning notes in the car for about 10 minutes. Prior to the exam we gathered in our usual spot and it was hugs all around.  We haven’t seen each other since orientation on March12th. It was really nice to see them.  Some of them are done with practicum already and some are very close.  I am probably the only one who has 4 shifts left.   I took my test in just under an hour.  It was only 65 questions with 5 med calculations (I aced those). I also forgot my dress code contract  (for pinning) at home.

Prior to the exam we had a raffle for an NCLEX review book and and Nurse Notes for IV medications.  I was not a winner but that is perfectly fine.  She also talked about the Pinning luncheon which will happen the day of our HESI exit exam.  (April 27th)  That is the actual last day of school for us.  Pinning is May 2nd.

On the way out, I picked up my class composite photograph.  (They put us in with the generic nursing students (meaning the normal nursing non accelerated program) but we were across the bottom with special notation that we were “Advanced Standing”  I took that picture right to Michael’s to have it framed before I could ruin it.  $120 dollars for a faux leather frame with double matting in my school colors and that was 60% off!!  I also got a frame with matting for my individual picture off the shelf. ($8).

I got some reading done  for school while I got my toe nails painted a deep red (Essie: Fishnet Stocking).

I read an interesting article today about The Art of Sanity: Five Ways to keep Your job from driving you crazy.    Really wished I had the wisdom of this article before I decided to go to nursing school. (when I didn’t think I wanted to be anything but an RT.)    But now I am almost done with RN school and I am not going to look back if I can help it.  I have enjoyed my experiences so far.

So the grades were up around 2pm.  I am very excited to announce that I got a 98.36 on my exam!!!  I am thrilled!!

One exam down, three more to go.  I have a pharmacology case study due on Monday and a Clinical Application of Management Theory paper due the following Monday. I think two more discussion posts to do. (She said none for module 4).  Then it’s done.  Amazing.  It went so fast but yet so SLOW.
