Lost Socks

I don’t know about you but I hate doing laundry.  The only thing I hate more than laundry is losing socks from one load to another!  I usually just throw them back into the dirty laundry basket until a mate can be found.  Well, no more!!

I saw this idea on Pinterest and I loved it. Here is the original idea:

I loved it so much I decided to make my own.   And here’s how I did it!

Materials I used:

  • 1 piece of Basswood Project wood (from Hobby Lobby)
  • 1 Jar of Americana Chalky finish in the color: Escape
  • Mod Podge Gloss Sealer
  • Americana Acrylic Paint in Snow White
  • 1 2″ Paint Brush
  • 4 Wooden clothes pins
  • Smaller Craft Paint brushes
  • Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks

First, I started with my Wood and brushed off all the splinters.

Then I brushed on Mod Podge Gloss Sealer And Allowed to dry.

Applied Three coats of the Americana Chalky finish paint, allowing it to dry between coats.  This pain has a neat almost crackle finish on top of the Mod Podge and it looks really nice..

I left it overnight to dry.   The next day I took the Americana acrylic paint and painted “Lost Socks” on the top of the board.  Freehand.

Using the hot glue gun I glued four clothes pins to the board as evenly spaced as I could.   The original idea had five clothes pins on it but my wood is a bit smaller than in the example so I limited mine to four clothes pins.  I debated painting the fronts of the clothes pins but decided against it.

Here is the finished product!  Cute, no?
