Last days of clinical

My last two days of clinical were this past week.  Monday was my last clinical on the CHF/ Pulmonary Edema floor and Wednesday was my last mental health day.

Monday went okay.  The instructor ran it like practicum and I took a single nurse and her team.  The day seemed really short but more like a real nursing shift since we sat in and took report and was able to start from the begining of a shift not like in the past. That felt good.   I only got to give meds to one of my three patients because of timing and patient care.  We did however end our patient care day at 3pm and had a lovely post conference sweets fest while we talked about our experiences and things we would bring to our practicum. That was fun.

My last mental health day was spent in two outpatient group sessions.  My partner and I in our anger management outpatient group read dear abby columns and asked the patients how they would handle these situations and how they could communicate to others involved in these situations to fix them.  It was fairly interesting,  their responses. In the afternoon I was in a substance abuse group where after “check in’s” we played Talicor Totika which is basically a self esteem building  Jenga game.  That was interesting.  I was suprised about what I learned about these patients.

I just turned in my patient interview/ pharm project which is due on wednesday.  I have two exams this week.  One tomorrow (last module) and one Wednesday (HESI achievement.)  I should really get going to study for those right now.

Worried now about the job search and finding a good GN program at one of my local hospitals but that’s another topic entirely.  🙂
