To figure out fluid maintenance for 24 hours time take the childs weight in Kg and :

For the first 10kg: 100ml/kg

For the second 10kg: 50ml/kg

For remaining kg: 20ml/kg

Add total ml’s to calculate total fluid needed for 24 hours.

Divide by 24 to calculate ml/hr rate.

Example 25kg child

10kg x 100ml = 1000ml

10kg x 50ml = 500ml

5kg x 20 ml= 100ml
